Aísa (Huesca)

Fall in love with "The Tranquil Valleys"

Valle de Aísa

If you only knew that we are located in the Valley of Aisa, or as we like to call it, the Tranquil Valleys, just a stone throw away from the Candanchú and Astún ski resorts many would already find us an appealing spot for holidays. But there is much more…

Aisa remains as one of the few places of the Aragon Pyrenees that remains unspoiled. It is considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque towns due to its traditional architecture. This is the doorway to the Natural Park of the Valles Occidentales, where you can breathe clean crisp air, contemplate nature and enjoy the peaceful quiet surronding at your own pace.

Located only 25km from Jaca and 60km from National Park of Ordesa y Monte Perdido, in the Aragon Pyrenees. This means more variety and fun: cultural activities, hiking, riding bikes, bird watching, rich gastronomy…

Don’t you want to start packing and getting your suitcases ready?

What to see in Aísa

Find below some ideas of what you can see and do in the Valley of Aísa:

AÍSA, THE RURAL SETTLING
Strolling through Aísa whilst enjoying the tranquillity and appreciating the streets of this small town. Visit the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción from the 17th century and the Shrine of San Esteban, famous for being the chosen place to educate the King Alfonso I.
THE MASSIF OF THE ASPE, AMAZING PANORAMICS
The Aspe (2640 metres high), together with the Liena del Bozo and Liena de Garganta, the peak with the most character in our valley. They form a paradise for mountaineers, climbers and Alpinists ready to practice their favourite sports.
MEGALITHIC MONUMENTS
Did you know that in Aísa we have a Dolmen that has been catalogued as the oldest megalithic construction in the Pyrenees? Discover it as you contemplate other of the man's first monuments, such as cromlechs and menhirs.
THE MYSTERY OF ADRIÁN DE SASABE
This beautiful Romanesque chapel located in Borau was built in a hidden place, something unusual for a Romanesque temple. Legends say that the Holy Grail was kept here, during its way to San Juan de la Peña.
SAN JUAN DE LA PEÑA, A MUST SEE
This beautiful Romanesque monastery, cradle of the Kingdom of Aragon, was built in the 10th century and is covered by a huge natural rock. Due to its spectacular nature and value , both cultural and natural, it was declared a protected area.
JACA, DISTRICT CAPITAL
The Romanesque cathedral, Diocesan Museum and the San Pedro Castle are 3 must see places in this lovely town. Don’t leave Jaca before visiting the Citadel, a military fortress from the end of the 16th century, the historic centre and the remains of the shrine of the Villar de Sarsa.

"The Tranquil Valleys"

Natural Park of the Valles Occidentales

The Natural Park of the Valles Occidentales is located in the northwestern of the Aragon Pyrenees, sharing its North border with France and the West border with Navarra. It extension contains the headwaters of the Veral, Aragón Subordán, Osia, Estarrún and Lubierre rivers.

The mountainous terrain owes a large part of its present shape to the action of glaciers that sculpted graceful peaks whilst forming glacial cirques, “U” shaped valleys and what later was known as the Ibon, that we know nowadays ( Mountain lakes).

An authentic sanctuary for the Pyrenean flora, fauna and a privileged location for mountain sports.
